January 2016 Monthly Favorites

I keep meaning to do this every month but so far I haven't. Being that its the start of a new year, I thought I'd finally try and take the time to sit down and share with you my monthly favorites. There is no rhyme or reason to this list, it is merely a collection of things/people/etc. that I have enjoyed throughout the past month!

~ The second season of Transparent came out on December 11th of 2015, however since that was crunch time for me school-wise, I didn't get around to watching it until the winter break. I thought I would take my time with it, but of course, I ended up binge watching the entirety of season two in one evening. Whoops? It was good...and I find that the show could easily be an hour long rather than the short 30 minute episodes that it currently is presented in. I really enjoy the storytelling in Transparent and if you haven't seen the show yet, I highly recommend it.

~ Celestial Seasonings teas are some of my favorites and lately, I've been consuming mass quantities of their Sleepy Time range, specifically the Sleepytime Echinacea . I try to watch my caffeine intake so these are great as they're caffeine free, but I also like them for when I'm feeling like crud which was a good chunk of January unfortunately. They also have a sinus soother one that is nice. Celestial Seasonings are just a classic for me and I have to say that I was quite pleased when I noticed recently that some of their teas now have the Non-GMO project verification! A+!!

~ This White Bean and Spinach pasta might just be a lifetime favorite but it's definitely a favorite for this month. It is super simple to make and is the perfect light and fresh meal following a heavy and indulgent holiday season. The recipe is from Eat Live Run (a blog I miss dearly!).

~ I've tried so many lip balms over the years, and while I have yet to find my absolutely holy grail, I've found plenty that are decent. This lip balm from Hurraw has been the one I've reached for most this past month. It is their Night Treatment Lip Balm and I like that it moisturizes my lips without feeling greasy or having a strong scent. It is apparently geared for nighttime application but I use it all the time.  I love that it is not only vegan and organic, but also cruelty-free and fair-trade. Win, Win, Win, Win!! They have so many different kinds (almond, coffee, chai?!? Yes please!) - I really need to try more because I've only used this one so far. If you've got any favorites from them, please let me know!

~ One way that I've aimed at being more Eco-conscious is by using a glass water bottle. I used to buy bottled water a lot and I tried using various plastic bottles but I didn't care for the plastic bottle, and I was well aware of the wastefulness of using bottled water. I like the glass bottle because my water always tastes like...water (crazy, right?). I use a Lifefactory bottle and I like the style of them (mine isn't a flip cap like the one I've linked to - its a screw top). I enjoy that it has measurements on the side of the bottle (in mL and oz) because I find that it encourages me to make sure I am getting enough water every day. Using a reusable glass water bottle is a great way to be Eco-friendly and it's great for your health too!

~ I've been obsessed with these two songs by Bob Marley this month. They have been my constant earworms!

~ I watch a lot of YouTube and this month, my favorites have been Fun For Louis & Casey Neistat. If you've never heard of them, stop what you're doing and go check them out!!

~ Lastly, and perhaps an odd favorite to some,  is this plant. I recently picked it up at a very fancy store called, Home Depot. It was five bucks and well worth the high cost of investment. ;) I can't get enough plants...and house plants are what get me through the winter months when I can't be outside in the gardens. They make me smile, but they're also great for the air in your house so I highly recommend you take in some plant babies if you don't have any greenery in your abode! Oh, and be sure to follow me on Instagram if you want to see more of what I'm up to! :)

What have been some of your favorites this month? I'd love to read them in the comments!
