Paula's Choice Pore Reducing Toner (REVIEW)

Skincare can be a tricky subject for me. I not only have sensitive skin, but I also have combination skin. One day I can have dry patches, the next day I feel like a piece of greasy pizza. Over the years I've learned to more or less deal with it, but one issue that has long driven me crazy, is my pores. They're large and noticeable and on the days when I want to wear makeup, they're a significant problem. So something I have been searching for is a product that will at least subdue them a little bit. The biggest issue is that many pore related products out there contain salicylic acid, which I am of course, allergic to. So when I came across this toner from Paula's Choice that not only claimed to reduce pores, but also did NOT contain salicylic acid, I couldn't wait to try it out!

According to the little blurb on the Nordstrom website where I purchased the toner from (free shipping & returns, woo!):

Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner offers potent antioxidants, anti-irritants and cell-communicating ingredients that help restore normal function to damaged, misbehaving cells. When used after cleansing, it helps skin restore and repair itself, balancing skin so its oily areas do not worsen. Redness is reduced while slightly dry, flaky areas are made smooth and soft. It even helps remove the last traces of makeup and may be the only moisturizing product your normal to oily skin needs during summer months or in hot, humid climates. The toner is specially formulated for those with oily/combination skin and is also a good option for those with acne-prone complexions.

After giving the ingredient list a once (and twice) over, I figured it was worth a shot. Overall, I like how gentle this toner is, which is great for someone whose skin can get cranky easily. It didn't have any sort of overpowering smell either which is a bonus. One gripe I have is the bottle, I don't exactly hate the packaging but I found that it can be easy to "pour"more product than is needed. Just something to be mindful of if you try out this toner!

In terms of whether or not it did what it claimed to do, I think that it definitely did! I can still see my pores but I feel like my skin is a bit smoother from using this product. When I fell off the skincare wagon and didn't do my routine for a week, I noticed how rough my skin felt and I could feel all the pores very easily. When I went back to using this, I felt my pores slowly diminishing.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend this product if you are in the market for a toner, and especially if you are looking for something to combat large/noticeable pores. Another bonus is that this product is cruelty-free! I definitely plan on checking out more from the brand as this is the first Paula's Choice product that I have tried. If you have any recommendations of what I should try next, please let me know!
